Gregory Hutchinson, 51, Killed in Jack-Knife Crash Between Fuel Truck and 18-Wheeler

Truck driver Gregory Hutchinson, 51, was killed yesterday morning in a crash involving two large commercial trucks in Franklin County, Maine.

The incident took place at about 9:30 Monday morning on Route 27, about 10 miles south of the Canadian border.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Hutchinson was driving north in a large commercial fuel truck. An 18-wheeler truck driven by Jeffrey Lang, 70, was heading south when the two trucks crashed.

The crash took place at a curve in the road which had also experienced recent snowfall. The trailer of Lang’s empty 18-wheeler lost traction and jack-knifed right into Hutchinson’s fuel truck. Hutchinson reportedly was killed on impact.

The incident is still under investigation, and no charges have been filed at this time.
