A tractor-trailer was involved in an accident Tuesday evening while it was pulled over on the side of a highway. According to police, the trailer, carrying furniture, was struck by a second truck. This caused the gas tank on the first truck to catch on fire.
Luckily the driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured in the incident, but the truck itself is being considered a total loss.
Reportedly no charges have yet been filed against the second driver. Both of the northbound lanes remained closed while emergency crews cleaned up the 100 or more gallons of spilled fuel. The Virginia Department of Energy Management is handling the clean-up.
