According to the Texas Department of Transportation, an 18-wheeler driver crashed his truck on Interstate 10 East at 6 a.m. this morning in Orange County, Texas, near Beaumont.
The crash took place at the intersection of I-10 and State Highway 12. Officers stated that the truck driver appeared to fall asleep behind the wheel and crashed into a wall before setting on fire.
Officials also stated that fuel had leaked from the truck due to the collision. The truck driver was sent to Southeast Texas Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment for smoke inhalation.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were reportedly to be shut down for some time for clean up of the leaked fuel.
No other vehicles or individuals were involved in the wreck.
