A driver was killed early Wednesday morning on Interstate 77 in Huntersville, North Carolina when a passenger car crashed into a box truck.
The wreck occurred at about 8:30 a.m. Officials reported that in addition to the one person killed at the scene, a second person underwent treatment for minor injuries at the scene before being taken via ambulance to CMC-Huntersville. It was also reported that a medical helicopter was requested to transport another victim to the hospital.
Clean-up and investigation of the incident took about 2 hours. Two lanes of I-77 were shut down while this took place.
No police report has yet been released as to specific details of the crash.
