A man died this past Wednesday when his SUV struck an 18-wheeler at an intersection in Liberty, Texas. The driver of the SUV allegedly ran a red traffic light and ran into the back of the 18-wheeler, causing the SUV to go under the trailer portion. The sheer force of impact completely ripped the roof from the rest of the vehicle.
Marvin Williams, 43, the driver of the SUV, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 18-month-old daughter was strapped into the back seat of the vehicle. She was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital via Life Flight, but is reportedly in good medical condition.
The initial police investigation into the accident found that the driver of the SUV had a red light and the truck driver had a green light. This was corroborated by witnesses at the scene.
