Early Wednesday morning a man was killed after stealing an Arizona Department of Transportation truck when he collided with an 18-wheeler.
According to police the unidentified man stole the ADOT truck while it was being loaded and drove it away. Soon after this he sideswiped another passenger vehicle that was stopped at a red light, and later smashed into the 18-wheeler’s trailer at the intersection of US Highway 89 and Country Club Drive.
The driver of the ADOT truck was declared dead at the scene. Police reported that he didn’t seem to slow down or attempt to stop when he collided with the 18-wheeler.
