Jacquelyn Edwards Killed in New Orleans 18-Wheeler Crash

31-year-old Jacquelyn Nicole Edwards was killed last week when an 18-wheeler struck her Chevy Malibu as she was making a U-turn.

The incident took place at 8:30 a.m. on June 8th, on Louisiana Highway 21. According to police, Edwards was on the right shoulder of the highway when she made the U-turn, but was hit on the driver’s side of her vehicle by an 18-wheeler as she began her maneuver.

Edwards was critically injured as a result of the collision, and was transported to North Oaks Medical Center nearby for treatment. She succumbed to her wounds shortly after arriving. At the time of the accident Edwards was wearing her seat belt.

The driver of the truck, Carnell Williams, was not injured in the crash. Police tested Williams’ for alcohol and other substances, as it commonly done in auto accidents involving a fatality, but Williams’ tests were negative. No official report has been released by police at this time.
