A high speed chase took place in Arlington Friday afternoon when the driver of an 18-wheeler truck went on a rampage through a highway, hitting at least 8 other vehicles.
Last reports indicate that at least 2 people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident started at about 1 p.m. when the driver was reported to police as driving erratically and speeding. This turned into a high speed chase through Interstate 30 through Fort Worth and Arlington, approaching speeds of over 100 miles per hour.
The whole ordeal came to an end after the 18-wheeler crashed into a sedan, which erupted into flames. The whole front of the 18-wheeler’s tractor was smashed, and the large truck came to rest after running into the side wall of the interstate. The interstate and surrounding roads were shut down completely as emergency vehicles swarmed the area.
After a standoff lasting several hours, the driver of the truck, an unidentified male, was taken into custody by police and SWAT team officers.
