Capital Metro previously reported that one of their buses struck and killed a pedestrian in North Austin. It is now known that the pedestrian was 20 year old Bethany Jai Clark and the bus driver was 56 year old Ronnie Calvert. The preliminary investigation notes that Ms. Clark was struck by the bus as it attempted to turn onto Howard. The bus driver has been cited for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian and is currently on paid leave. The medical examiner noted that Ms. Clark died as a result of blunt force trauma. Other pedestrians that frequently cross at this location noted that the lights are often confusing and that the pedestrian crossing light and traffic light are frequently lit up at the same time allowing for both pedestrians and cars to enter the intersection at the same time. An investigation into the accident continues.
