Three children and an adult were killed Friday morning in a wreck between a tractor-trailer and a Ford Taurus. According to police, the truck drove on top of the car and crushed it. The collision occurred on Interstate 95 in Colleton County, South Carolina.
Details are still unclear on what caused the collision. There were six total passengers in the Ford Taurus, four of those in the backseat. All four in the backseat were killed in the crash. The driver of the car and a passenger were injured as well, and were transported to the hospital. One of those was sent to the hospital via helicopter.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was also taken to the hospital. The driver’s injuries were reported as being minor.
Once emergency official arrived on the scene, two lanes of traffic were shut down. It took Colleton-County Fire Rescue about two hours to reach the survivors still stuck inside the Taurus.
Police have not yet issued a statement as to what caused the wreck, nor whether either party is at fault for the collision.
