A woman was killed and six others injured Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle accident on the Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas. Police reported that a blue SUV struck the back of a black car that was moving slowly. The black car was pushed off of the roadway onto the grass, but the SUV spun and was struck head on by a third gold car.
Firefighters had to extract the passengers of both the SUV and the third car, as they were all pinned inside. The driver and passenger of the SUV, an unidentified male and female, respectfully, were transported to Ben Taub Hospital. The female passenger died after arrival at the hospital.
The occupants of the other two cars, 5 people in total, were also transported to local hospitals. The inbound lanes on the freeway were shut down for several hours as a result of the accident.
Police have not identified an exact cause of the wreck, nor whether any party was at fault for the wreck.
