Trucker Steve Brown, 57, Killed in Three-18-Wheeler Crash

Steve Brown, a 57-year-old truck driver from San Antonio, was killed near Gonzales County, Texas in a crash involving three 18-wheeler trucks.

The collision took place on Interstate 10 when Brown’s 18-wheeler crashed into the back of another 18-wheeler that was parked on the side of the road.

Onyegbule Okonko, from Houston, was the driver of the parked 18-wheeler. Okonko was seated in the passenger seat when the crash took place, and was uninjured in the crash. His truck had suffered two blown out tires and he was waiting on service assistance to arrive.

According to police reports, Okonko had put warning triangles on the road right behind his truck. However, Brown had reportedly driven onto the side shoulder of the road before crashing into Okonko. It is unclear what caused Brown to swerve onto the side of the road.

Right after the initial crash occurred, Brown swerved to his left and struck another 18-wheeler driven by Fernando Castillo, a 39-year-old truck from Laredo. Castillo also avoided injury in the crash.
