An accident took place Tuesday afternoon in West Monroe, Louisiana, when a train slammed into an 18-wheeler truck that was trying to cross a train track at the intersection of Bancroft Boulevard and Coleman Street.
According to eyewitness Ernest Compton, the18-wheeler tried to cross over the tracks while the train was bearing down on it. The train then smashed into the trailer portion of the large truck. The impact caused the train to derail. Police are faulting the 18-wheeler driver for the accident as he failed to keep the track clear.
Obryant Holmes, the conductor of the train, says the he escaped the crash at the last minute by jumping off of the train car.
The Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the crash but has not yet released a report.. Fortunately no one was injured or killed as a result of the wreck.
