Tractor-Trailer Driver Arrested After Fleeing Hit-And-Run Fatality Accident

Brandon Bonvillain, a 27-year-old truck driver, was arrested Friday after trying to flee from the scene of a fatal accident between his 18-wheeler and a passenger vehicle.

The accident occurred when Bonvillain was driving south on Louisiana Highway 1 on the Leeville Bridge, at about 7 a.m. Friday morning. According to the Louisiana State Police, Bonvillain crossed over the center divider line and hit an Acura Integra head-on, killing the driver, Kenneth Ancar, 69.

Police stated that Bonvillain then attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended by a deputy with the Lefourche Parish Sheriff’s Office. Bonvillain was charged with vehicular homicide, hit-and-run involving a fatality, and driving left of center. Police also stated that he showed signs of impairment, though toxicology results are still pending.
