Sebastian Weiskopf, Dominique Myles Killed in Fiery 18-Wheeler Wreck in North Texas

Two people were killed Monday in a crash in Childress County, Texas, about 120 southeast of Amarillo.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety the incident took place at about 9:50 p.m. Monday night. High winds and poor visibility were affecting many drivers on the road, and much of the traffic on US Highway 287 had began to slow or stop on the roadway. At this time, an 18-wheeler truck was unable to see the slowed traffic and plowed into the back of a Ford sedan. The Ford then ran into another vehicle in front of it.

After the crash, both the 18-wheeler and the Ford came to rest in a ditch, with both catching on fire. The driver and passenger in the Ford Sedan, Jon Weiskopf and Dominique Myles, were trapped in their vehicle and were unable to exit when it became covered in flames.

The driver of the 18-wheeler and the driver of the third car were both injured in the crash and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

It was not reported whether any drivers were given citations related to the incident.
