A tragic car wreck near Frisco, Texas (a town just north of Dallas, Texas) took the life of a 9 year old girl on Wednesday night. The young girl, Marci Hotten, along with her mother and 12 year old sister, were in the southbound service road of Highway 121 at the time of the auto accident. It is not clear whether their car was disabled or traveling slowly, but what is known is that a tow truck driver struck the car from behind. The tow truck driver told investigating officers that he was unable to see the car until it was too late due to a small rise in the road immediately prior to the point of impact. Poor lighting in the area and the lack of a shoulder for the disabled car to pull onto also likely contributed to this tragic car accident. It is not believed that the tow truck driver was impaired at the time of the accident, and no charges are expected to be filed. Ofifcers continue to investigate the cause of the auto accident, however. Marci’s mother and older sister were treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marci Hotten and her family.
