A highway crash unfolded near Dallas yesterday when a tanker truck caused a chain-reaction of crashes in a construction zone.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a tanker truck carrying diesel fuel was heading west on Interstate 20 while it approached a portion of road that had been reduced to one lane because of construction. The driver of the truck reportedly did not notice that traffic was slowing ahead, and ran into a white Dodge pickup truck. The Dodge pickup then struck a gray Hyundai sedan in front of it.
After these two collisions, the tanker truck kept on moving and ran into a tractor-trailer truck, causing the tanker truck to roll onto its side, finally hitting a third tractor trailer.
According to officials, diesel fuel from the tanker leaked onto the road and surrounding areas.
Thankfully, no injuries have yet been reported. Interstate 20 was shut down for several hours, with traffic backing up for several miles.
