Single Vehicle Crash Injures Two, Ruptures Gas Line

Two people were injured Wednesday morning in Arlington, Texas, following a car accident.

Authorities reported that a man was driving at a high speed and crashed into a gas pipe around the 3300 block of Matlock Road near midnight.

The driver suffered critical injuries and was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. A female passenger was transported with injuries as well, but her exact condition is not known.

Fires broke out from the broken gas lines. Oncor power had to cut power in the area briefly in order to stop the gas leaks and put out the fires. The southbound lanes of Matlock Road were closed as the repairs and clean-up took place.

It was not reported whether a citation was issued to the driver, and no police report has been released yet.
