Alex Willett, 55, and John Mack, 53, Killed in Louisiana Wreck Involving Four 18-Wheelers

Two Texans were killed early Monday morning after a fiery crash took place involving four 18-wheelers on Interstate 10 in west Baton Rouge. They were identified as Alex Willett, 55, from Orange, Texas, and John Mack, 53, from Beaumont, Texas.

According to police reports, the wreck occurred when Willett failed to slow down as he came upon stopped traffic. Willett’s 18-wheeler truck ran into the back of another 18-wheeler, which caused a chain reaction that hit two more 18-wheelers in front of those. The second large truck flipped over into the median.

Both Willett and Mack were found to have sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene of the crash.

Eastbound I-10 was shut down for over 10 hours, according to local reports.
