Motorcyclist killed by driver making illegal U-Turn

An unidentified motorcyclist was killed late Thursday evening in a car crash in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Around 6:30 p.m., Donelle Spivey, 30, tried to make a U-turn across 2 lanes from the outside lane of the roadway and cut off the motorcycle who was traveling in the inside lane.

According to Spivey, she was setting up her GPS when it instructed her to make a U-turn. She also said that the motorcyclist attempted to pass her and ran off the roadway.

Police found after investigation that Spivey did not possess a valid driver’s license or auto insurance. She was charged with a second offense of driving under a suspended license, and driving with an uninsured vehicle, expired registration, and making an unlawful lane change. Spivey was booked Thursday evening and remains in jail as of Friday morning.

At this time the motorcycle driver’s name has not been released. Immediately after the accident a physician’s assistant stopped to render aid to the driver until medics arrived. Officers found the driver unresponsive upon their arrival, and medics declared the driver dead at the scene.
