A 21-year-old man was killed Monday in a wreck involving 5 vehicles and 7 people, including an 18-wheeler.
Police reported that Kevin Cottle was driving south on US Highway 27 at about 6 a.m. when an 18-wheeler turned left in front of him. Cottle’s car went partly under the trailer. Three other vehicles also hit the trailer portion of the semi. Another driver, Terry Fletcher, suffered serious injuries. Two other drivers suffered minor injuries.
The truck driver was not injured himself. Police stated that he could potentially be charged, though at this time no official police report has been released. Several witnesses interviewed at the scene did state that extremely foggy conditions made it hard to see.
