Christina Medina Hit, Killed by Car on Highway 290 in Sunset Valley in Austin

Christina Medina, 37, was killed in a crash early last Friday morning on US Highway 290 in South Austin.

Officials with the Sunset Valley Police Department said that an unidentified driver of a two-door sedan was driving to work on the highway when he hit Medina, who was on foot. The driver stayed on the scene and waited for police to show up. Police stated that the male driver was “obviously distraught.”

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed until about 10 a.m. that morning.

It is still unclear at this time exactly why Medina was on foot on the highway. No charges have been filed relating to this incident.
