Marvin Knutson, a 72-year-old man from Swift Current, Saskatchewan, was killed Saturday night in a crash with an 18-wheeler truck.
The wreck took place on Interstate 15, near the Great Falls International Airport in Montana. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a southbound 18-wheeler crossed over the median of the highway in order to reach a scale area in an authorized vehicle-only crossing. While doing so, the 18-wheeler passed in front of Knutson’s van, which was heading in the same direction. Knutson was forced to change lanes but hit the back right side of the trailer.
Knutson died at the scene of the crash, according to the Highway Patrol.
The 18-wheeler reportedly then continued onto the weigh station, stopped, and then left the scene of the accident. Police investigators are still looking for the driver and the truck, and believe that the trailer will have damage on the right side of the trailer.
