Four elderly people were killed Saturday when their car was struck by an 18-wheeler truck. Authorities state that the four people were driving in a Hyundai Sonata sedan and attempted to make a turn when they were hit by the 18-wheeler.
The crash took place Saturday afternoon around 12:45 p.m. in Northampton County, Virginia.
According to police, the driver, Konrad Erbes, was 87 years old. The three passengers, Angelika Erebes, Jacob Eng, and Theresa Eng, were 78, 80, and 76 years old, respectively. Police stated that the victims were on their way to visit family.
The truck driver is expected to survive. No names have been released as the investigation into the wreck continues. No fault has yet been assigned to either of the parties.
