A chaotic accident on Saturday evening resulted in four deaths after a tractor trailer struck a passenger vehicle and a flatbed truck in western Indiana.
According to Indiana State Police, an 18-wheeler truck first hit a car in the back before striking the flatbed truck, which was carrying steel bars. The car set on fire, and three occupants in the vehicle were killed.
When the 18-wheeler hit the flatbed, the steel bars reportedly penetrated the cab of the 18-wheeler. The driver of the 18-wheeler died at the scene.
Officers stated that the wreck happened as traffic had slowed due to a fire ahead, and that the tractor-trailer had failed to slow down before hitting the passenger car.
