A driver was killed Tuesday morning when they crashed their SUV into the back of an 18-wheeler truck.
The accident occurred at about 9:15 a.m. on Interstate 20 West, near the intersection with Highway 18, in Jackson, Mississippi.
According to the Jackson Police Department, the semi truck had stopped behind other traffic when the SUV struck the trailer from behind. The front side of the SUV was reportedly crushed under the weight of the trailer.
Traffic in the area experienced heavy delays as crews worked to clean up the scene.
It was not stated whether or not the driver of the 18-wheeler was injured in the wreck, nor what exactly caused the driver of the SUV to smash into the back of the truck.
The deceased driver has not yet been publicly identified.
