Dallas Billionaire Charles Wylie Killed In A Car Accident

Today was a stark reminder that fatal car accidents do not discriminate on the basis of class. Dallas billionaire Charles Wylie was killed yesterday in a car wreck near Aspen, Colorado. Mr. Wylie’s Porsche was struck by another car while he attempted to complete a left hand turn. The car crash has been ruled an ‘accident,” but the investigation into the exact cause is ongoing. The other driver involved in the car wreck only sustained minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and investigators do not believe that alcohol played a role in the car accident.

Charles Wylie was continually in the Dallas headlines over the past few years for two reasons, his generous gifts to the Dallas arts community (specifically the Wylie Theatre) and the ongoing SEC investigation into alleged concealed profits for securities transactions. Despite the ongoing investigation, Mr. Wylie was known, and will continue be known, in the Dallas arts community as “a true friend of the arts and our community, a friend who truly cared and who truly made a difference. His contributions to the growth and well-being of both the Dallas Theater Center and Dallas Children’s Theater are immeasurable.”
