A woman from Dequincy, Louisiana was killed Wednesday after driving head-on into an 18-wheeler truck.
Susan Kay Marcantel, 60, was driving on La. Highway 12 when she drifted across the center dividing line and ran headfirst into an 18-wheeler driving in the opposite direction. The crash took place at about 6 a.m., just east of Dequincy.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, Wilburn Sellers, 46, was not injured in the crash. Sellers and Marcantel were both reportedly wearing seatbelts.
The collision also called a side fuel tank on the 18-wheeler to break, spilling diesel fuel on the highway.
The Louisiana State Police Transportation Safety Services Section Troopers responded to the scene to coordinate cleanup of the spill. No determination has been made as to exactly why Marcantel crossed the center line of the highway.
