Driver Sergiy Grebinnyk Charged After West Virginia 18-Wheeler Crash Resulting in Bradlee Haynes’ Death

A truck driver who left the scene of a wreck is facing two charges stemming from a deadly 18-wheeler crash that took place last week.

Last Thursday night, Sergiy Grebinnyk, 61, struck a pickup  truck driven by Bradlee Haynes, 33 on Interstate 77 in West Virginia.

West Virginia State Police stated that Haynes’ pickup was stuck under the semi-truck and dragged for over half a mile before it detached. Police stated that Grebinnyk drove another 1.5 miles before he stopped.

Police believe that Grebinnyk was trying to get rid of evidence that was attached to his truck, and that he had no intention of returning to the scene of the wreck or contacting authorities.

They also said that the truck driver lied about his truck service records.

Police charged Grebinnyk with two counts, though more may be coming: leaving the scene of an accident causing death, and giving false information to law enforcement. At this point it is unclear what trucking company the driver worked for.
