Samantha Smith, 27, was killed early Monday morning after she was hit by an 18-wheeler while walking on a roadway.
The crash took place north of Bassett Forks, Virginia, on Route 220 at about 2:45 a.m.
Reports state that Smith was wearing black sweatpants and a dark-colored hoodie at the time of the accident, and that she was walking to a store to buy cigarettes.
The driver of the 18-wheeler truck was not charged by police. Route 220 was closed for several hours after the accident.
