18-Wheeler Drifts Over Highway Median, Kills 3 in Sedan

3 individuals were killed in a trucking accident Monday morning when their car was struck by an 18-wheeler truck.

The crash took place on Route 15 (James Madison Highway) in Fluvanna County, Virginia and is currently under investigation by Virginia State Police. According to investigators, a southbound 18-wheeler truck driven by Franklin Rowe, 51, crossed over the center line of the highway and ran into a Honda sedan driven by Roderick Manifold, 69. The impact was so hard that the 18-wheeler truck overturned.

Also in the sedan were his wife Demetria Manifold, 69, and her mother Marion Brewer, 91. All three were killed in the wreck.

Rowe was charged by police with reckless driving. He was also treated by paramedics for minor injuries. The road was closed down for investigation and cleanup for about 6 hours.
