Five people were injured earlier this morning in a catastrophic car accident in Detroit. The 2-vehicle crash occurred when an SUV struck a white pickup truck, splitting it into two pieces. The cab portion of the truck was sent hurling towards a nearby house, and the truck bed portion went the opposite direction on the street. Parts of both vehicles were found scattered all over the street.
There were three passengers in the pickup truck, and two passengers in the SUV. All five were transported to a local hospital. None of them had life-threatening injuries, though one person was reported to be on a stretcher. All five are expected to be released soon.
Emergency responders considered it a miracle that none of them suffered worse injuries given the destruction done to the vehicles. Police have not issued any comment as the cause of the accident, and did not state whether they had assigned fault to either of the drivers.
