This morning an 18-wheeler truck veered off of Interstate 35 in San Antonio and came extremely close to smashing into a South Side neighborhood home.
According to police reports, at about 4:45 a.m., the driver of the large tractor trailer clipped an 18-wheeler that was parked on the side of the Interstate, then veered across a feeder road, struck a parked vehicle, and then smashed down several trees, fences, light poles, and a front porch.
The owner of that home with the damaged front porch, Laura Rosales, 57, said “I thought it might’ve been thunder, but it wasn’t raining. Then I felt the whole house shaking.”
The 18-wheeler finally stopped on the corner of the 400 block of Hawthorne street, and lost at least one wheel. The truck sustained significant damage to both the trailer and cab. The driver stated that he could not remember what happened. Police believe there’s a chance the driver was asleep at the time of the crash.
The driver doesn’t face any criminal charges at this time, though the investigation is pending. Thankfully no injuries were reported in the crash.
