18-Wheeler Driver Samuel Bears Killed in Highway Wreck – Distracted Driving Blamed

Samuel Bears, a 58-year-old man from Fort Worth, Texas, was killed when his 18-wheeler crashed on Interstate 35 near San Marcos, Texas last week. The crash occurred at about 1:24 a.m., just between Hays and Comal Counties.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Bears was holding a cigarette lighter when he became distracted. DPS Stated that Bears attempted to avoid driving into a vehicle in front of him, and instead slammed into a concrete barrier in the median of the road, flipping his truck onto the shoulder of the road.
