SUV Driver Injured in Double 18-Wheeler Wreck

The driver of a Mercedes SUV was injured Monday morning after being in an accident with two 18-wheeler trucks on the George Washington Bridge.

At about 11:30 a.m., the unidentified 61-year-old driver struck a tractor trailer in front of him, and was then struck from behind by another 18-wheeler. As seen below, the car is essentially unrecognizable due to the catastrophic damage.

The driver of the Mercedes was trapped inside the SUV after the accident, and Port Authority emergency responders had to cut him out of his car. He was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition and treated for a broken left arm and contusions.

Traffic on the bridge was delayed for about an hour after the accident. Police have not released an official report, and it is unclear whether any citations will be issued related to this.
