Three people were hurt Monday evening in a crash between a car and an 18-wheeler in the Rosedale neighborhood of Queens, NY. The incident took place at the intersection of Rockaway Boulevard and Brookville Boulevard near JFK International Airport.
According to police, an 18-wheeler tractor trailer was moving in reverse while making a delivery when the trailer was hit by a car. The car went right under the trailer and was crushed and ripped apart by the impact (photos below).
Witnesses stated that it was one of the most catastrophic accidents they had seen in that area in years, and that wrecks at that intersection have been relatively common.
Two unidentified men driving in the car were in critical condition after the wreck, and a third suffered minor injuries and refused treatment. The two critically-injured males were transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for urgent treatment. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not reported as being injured.
No charges have yet been filed regarding this incident as it remains under investigation.
