3 Killed in Fiery Tractor-Trailer Crash and Pileup

3 people were killed over the weekend in a crash involving a tractor-trailer oil tanker on ice-covered Interstate 95 in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday night. Two of the decedents have been identified as Alfredo Santos Orellano, 38, and Mehmed Hodzic, 54. The third person killed was the driver of the oil tanker.

The 18-wheeler’s crash was just one part of a huge traffic pileup that had occurred due to icy road conditions. Multiple vehicles had already begun to spin out and crash due to their inability to stop, forming a pileup. The 18-wheeler then came upon the pileup, but likewise was unable to stop. The truck flipped over on its side and slid off of the overpass, falling onto railroad tracks below. It exploded upon impact in a massive fireball.

Additionally, it has been reported that police officers responded to 377 separate crashes on Saturday night alone, and that over 100 vehicles were disabled due to the extreme conditions and icy roads.
