Robert Favela, 34, was injured early Saturday after his 18-wheeler truck was involved in an accident near Fresno, California.
According to police, Favela was driving his rig near Lovers Lane, just south of Noble Avenue, when he drifted onto the right shoulder of the road and ran into another 18-wheeler that was parked in the area. Both 18-wheelers suffered serious damage, and one burst into flames as a result.
Investigators did not report the exact cause as to why Favela drifted off the road, but did state that alcohol was not a factor. It was also apparently raining at the time of the accident, though it is unclear whether this contributed.
Favela was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment for minor injuries. It was not reported whether the other truck’s driver was present during the crash. At this time the police investigation remains ongoing.
