A man out of Natchez, Mississippi was killed Friday morning after his pickup truck struck an 18-wheeler on Interstate 55 near the town of Hazlehurst.
Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol stated that the wreck took place around 6:40 a.m. Tony McKinley, 54, was driving his Ford F-150 south on I-55 when he lost control of his truck and crossed over the highway median, into oncoming traffic.
McKinley struck the front bumper of an oncoming 18-wheeler, and the F-150 was flipped into a nearby ditch. McKinley was not wearing his seatbelt, and was immediately ejected from the car and reportedly died instantly.
The driver of the 18-wheeler reportedly suffered minor injuries and was taken to nearby Hardy Wilson Hospital. Another passenger of the large truck does not appear to have been injured.
