Karen Fuller Killed in 3-Car Wreck in Utica, New York

A woman from was killed in a car wreck in Utica, New York involving three vehicles earlier this week.

On Wednesday, 48-year-old Karen Fuller was in the passenger seat of a car driven by her husband Scott Fuller, 55, when their vehicle was hit while they were making a turn. The crash took place on Route 5 eastbound and West German Street when another car ran a red light at that intersection, striking the Fuller’s car on the passenger side.

Scott Fuller, the driver, suffered minor injuries, while Karen Fuller was pronounced dead at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Austin Fuller, their son, 21, sustained severe head trauma as a result of the crash.

The driver of the car that ran the red light, James Schulze, 60, and a passenger in the car, Jessica Groom, 34, were also transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Utica for non-life-threatening injuries.

The third vehicle in the crash, an SUV, was struck by the Fuller’s car after the first collision occurred. Faizi Chanje, 53, the driver, was not injured in the wreck.

The crash is being investigated by the New York State Police. No charges have been filed yet on any of the drivers.
