An early morning accident on Tuesday shut down the northbound portion of Interstate 95 in Fairfield Connecticut. The crash occurred at about 1:16 a.m., reportedly just before heavy snow began to fall.
The accident involved 9 total vehicles, 3 of those being 18-wheeler trucks. Details on the exact collision are still unclear, but as the photo below shows, one driver’s sedan ended up crushed underneath the rear of an 18-wheeler’s trailer.
Two truck drivers were injured in the crash, one of them seriously. The driver of the sedan that crashed into the back of the trailer was also transported to nearby Bridgeport Hospital with serious injuries.
The highway had to be shut down for over an hour so that emergency personnel could clean up the scene.
No details were released on whether any of the involved parties were deemed at fault, or whether charges will be brought on any of the drivers. It is unclear if weather played a factor in this incident.
