A crash near Indio, California resulted in four people being injured, including three cheerleaders and a bus driver.
The crash took place at about 4:15 p.m. on Interstate 10. According to reports, the cheerleaders’ bus was driving home to Arizona from UCLA when it was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler truck.
According to the California Highway Patrol , the driver of the 18-wheeler truck with two trailers, Rene Aragon, was driving too fast as he approached stopped highway traffic. When Aragon hit the brakes, his truck was forced to the left, where it struck the back of the cheerleaders’ bus.
The truck then veered onward through the center median of the highway, eventually coming to rest while blocking both eastbound and westbound lanes. Shortly afterwards the truck burst into flames, though Aragon did escape safely.
Three of the cheerleaders on the bus were injured. All were aged 13 and under. Thankfully no major injuries were reported in the wreck.
