Graco, Inc. has issued a recall for over 25,000 car seats that were found by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to have faulty harnesses.
After crash-testing several different models of Graco car seats, the NHTSA found that some models of the Graco Children’s Products My Ride 65 had faulty car seat webbing that was susceptible to tearing in the event of a crash, thus failing to properly restrain the child.
According to the official notice, the recall will begin on July 17, 2017.
The NHTSA first notified Graco of the test results on March 29, 2016. Graco issued this present recall based on another failed test from earlier in 2017.
The recalled car seat models include My Ride 65 model numbers 1871689, 1908152, 1813074, 1872691, 1853478, 1877535, 1813015, and 1794334.
Graco is developing a replacement harness webbing that will be issued free to those who previously bought the affected products.
