The driver of an 18-wheeler truck was charged by police after his trailer tipped over on Interstate 91 this Tuesday.
Ralph Perry, 56, from East Orange, NJ, was charged for failure to drive in the proper lane, traveling unreasonably fast, and failure to pay annual filing fees as an interstate motor carrier as required by federal law.
The accident took place at about 10 a.m. near Exit 27 of Interstate 91. According to police, Perry was driving at about 50 miles per hour when he lost control of the truck, which ultimately flipped over on its left side across all four lanes of traffic. Thankfully no other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
Fuel was reportedly leaked across the road due to the wreck. It took over 3 hours for two of those lanes to reopen to traffic as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. Perry suffered minor injuries, reportedly just bumps and scrapes, and was transported to nearby Hartford Hospital for an evaluation.
