14 people were injured Saturday evening when a multi-vehicle accident unfolded in Antioch, California, just east of San Francisco. 4 of those injured were listed as in critical condition.
The Contra Costa Fire Department stated that all four critically injured persons were flown to local hospitals by helicopter. Three of those four were reportedly children. The wreck took place at about 6:18 p.m. on westbound Interstate Highway 4.
Reports state that a Toyota sedan with seven total occupants crashed into a Toyota minivan with three occupants.
In total, 5 ground ambulances and 4 helicopters were brought in to service those injured in the wreck.
All lanes of the highway were shut down for the evening while cleanup and investigation took place.
